Brian von Rueden has designed costumes for over 30 productions in the last decade. He began working as the costume shop supervisor for Northern Lights Playhouse in Hazelhurst, Wisconsin in 1998, and spent the following summer costuming the inaugural theatre season at the Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. His unrealized designs for Pelléas et Melisande were awarded Honorable Mention at the American College Theatre Festival. Brian's designs for the operatic stage have earned consistent acclaim, in particular for productions of Cimarosa's L'infedeltà fedele, Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro with Millennium Chamber Players, and Rorem's A Childhood Miracle at Roosevelt University. He has also costumed productions for theatre companies in Dresden, Germany, the Underground Theatre in Valparaiso, Indiana, and for the Three-Sided Players in Chicago, Illinois. His designs for Nathaniel Wright’s Pushing Daisies were seen at the Bailiwick DIrector’s Festival and at Stage 33 in Chicago.
